Do Not Give Up Coverage for a Cheap Insurance Company

Many of the more affordable companies are able to offer lower rates because they are profitable with particular drivers while others may be simply trying to draw competition from other insurers; what many may not realize is that many of the cheaper insurers will offer the minimum coverage required by a particular state which  may seem great price wise, but can leave a motorist in a bad position following a traffic collision which they cause.

According to the Ohio Department of Insurance, the minimum bodily injury liability limits required are $12,500 per person and $25,000 per accident; we all know that this is not much money if someone is hospitalized following an accident and if these limits are exceeded, the policyholder may be held liable for paying any costs due to the injured party once the insurer has paid what they are obligated to.

One should be extremely careful when purchasing polices and ensure that they are protecting themselves as best as possible. It is simply not worth it to buy a lower amount of coverage to save on premiums and it may not be necessary. When comparing auto insurance companies and rates, one should be sure to compare higher limits than what their state requires; there is a good chance that there is a company out there that can offer a rate for more extensive protection comparable to what another provider may offer for minimal coverage.
