If you own a 2011 or 2012 model-year Nissan Versa, you may want to start shutting your doors more gently. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration launched an investigation into airbags that could deploy when doors are closed.

The investigation began after NHTSA received early warning reporting data from Nissan and three complaints concerning the issue, which involves side curtain and seat-mounted side airbags. No deaths or injuries have been reported so far. If NHTSA deems a recall necessary, 155,000 cars could be affected.

Last year saw the largest rise in traffic fatalities since 1996 and according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s preliminary data for the first half of 2016, the number of deaths is up once again. Road deaths in the US rose 10.4 percent in the first six months of 2016 compared to the same period in 2015.

The data, which has not been finalized, reveals that an estimated 17,775 people died in motor vehicle accidents in the first half of this year. Over the same period in 2015, there were 16,100 reported fatalities. The preliminary figures from this year are the highest since the first half of 2008 when a reported 17,894 people died in traffic accidents.

She was on her way to a friend’s wedding last month, but the only way to get there was to cross the Golden Gate Bridge, She made it to the starting gate, but then she froze. She tried to move her car, but ended up panicking that she wouldn’t be able to make it across and pulled over to the side. She then noticed a police officer pulling up behind her.

“I know I got to go, I’m just scared,” she told the officer before breaking down into tears again. She told the officer she was worried about passing out due to her fear. The officer then made a remarkable offer.

“I’ll be behind you the whole time. Just take it nice and slow,” the unnamed officer said. He assured her everything would be fine and she could take all the time she needed. Later, She wrote online thanking the officer for his reassurance, saying he helped her conquer one of her biggest fears.

Honda is recalling about 350,000 2016 Civic coupes and sedans with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder and the turbocharged 1.5-liter four cylinder.

The Problem: The car’s stability control software currently prevents drivers from setting the electronic parking brake immediately after switching off the ignition. If the driver attempts to do this, the brake may not engage, and a brake light may flash on the instrument panel for 15 seconds. If the car’s brake isn’t properly set, and the car isn’t in a parking gear, the car could roll away, potentially injuring someone or damaging the car.

A St. Louis man lucked out last week when a pair of carjackers abandoned his Nissan Altima because it had a manual transmission.  The carjackers apparently left French’s car behind and took off without stealing anything. French told KMOV he believes that they did so because his car has a manual transmission and the gunman, who St. Louis Police say was in his late teens or early-20s, couldn’t drive one. Thankfully, French wasn’t hurt and his Nissan is still safely in his possession.
