Cheap Auto Quote, Concrete crash barriers are strong enough to stop almost anything
If the thought of barreling straight into a concrete barrier sounds… well, frightening, that’s okay, because it is. But it’s less terrifying than plummeting off the side of a bridge, right?
According to the Fox affiliate in New Orleans (via Jalopnik), these barriers are being tested by engineers at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute for use on the new Causeway Bridge. Current barriers are not tall enough to keep large vehicles that sit high off the road from leaping over and off the bridge; these new barriers are reportedly 42-inches tall, and can clearly stop even the largest of vehicles in their tracks.
