Why Healthcare so Costly in the U.S.?
My hat is off to Dr. Mark Hoofnagle who wrote an excellent article/blog for scienceblogs.com a few weeks ago. Someone (one of my intrepid readers) sent me a link to Dr. Hoofnagle’s post and it is definitely worth reading.
The article addresses what drives the costs of healthcare in the United States. My advice small business owners? Grab this article and send it on to your representatives in Congress. Dr. Hoofnagle describes what, in his experience, drives up costs. He then compares his real experiences to the findings of the McKinsey Global Institute. He concludes that administrative costs, pharmaceutical costs, and inefficiencies drive up cost and fail to return any value.
It is an excellent article, well-reasoned, and worth reading if you want to take a realistic look at what our current healthcare system delivers for the price we pay.
